Marmara University Department of Biology Herbarium is a herbarium established in 1984 and its collections mostly cover the vegetation of the Marmara Region and surrounding provinces. As of 2021, the total number of plant specimens in the collection has been reported as 19984.

In the Herbarium, besides the samples collected by the faculty members of the Botany Department of the Department of Biology during field trips, samples collected during the master's and doctoral theses in the department are also kept.

A. Çirpici, E. Özhatay, C. Yarci, M. Serin, A. Yilmaz, F. Gunes, E. Osma are among the top contributors of our collections along with postgraduate and doctoral graduate students who completed their theses in our department.

Currently, the works for the preparation of a complete plant list of the herbarium, classification, labeling, photographing and transferring the specimens to digital media, creating a herbarium database are continuing, and when these works are concluded, collaborations are planned with herbariums in Turkey and abroad regarding plant specimen exchanges and donations.
